Job Description:

With a central Data & Analytics team based in Rotterdam, we are looking for a Data Engineer to continue the growth and establishment of Data & Analytics within our business. At the heart of our strategy, we have defined our Data & Analytics journey. Unlocking and exploring data from multiple sources while delivering the right quality of information to our key stakeholders is our key success factor.

Responsibilities:

Management and Strategy:

  • Provide contributions to design, deploy, and maintain the business’s data platforms while integrating Generative AI solutions.
  • Implement strategies for acquiring data and promoting new insights across the organization.
  • Extend the data pipeline through collection, storage, processing, and transformation of large datasets.
  • Monitor existing metrics, analyze data, and collaborate with other Data and Analytics teams to identify and implement system and process improvements.
  • Team Management: Guide and upskill yourself and junior engineers, fostering Generative AI adoption across teams

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with the business teams, gathering technical requirements for exceptional data governance.
  • Define the business’s data requirements to ensure high-quality data for use across the department and the entire organization.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Data Processing Frameworks: Build and maintain optimized high intensity data pipelines that facilitate deeper analysis and reporting.
  • Data Science Collaboration: Collaborate with senior data science leadership and other teams to leverage data using our tools like Denodo, Power BI and Azure Open AI Services.
  • ETL Development: Design and develop ETL (extract-transform-load) processes using technologies such as SQL, Python and Java in listed order of importance.
  • Database Security: Understanding of security tools to protect data.

Requirements:

  • A degree or higher in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Electronics or Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology or other related technical disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Experience in building and deploying CI/CD pipelines.
  • A deep understanding of databases, data models and meta data driven generation of Data Vaults, Data Marts, Data Catalogue and Engineering good practices (GxP).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with the application of data concepts, data models and data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience in Logical Data Warehouse technology, a plus is knowledge of Denodo.
  • Excellent communication skills and good command of the English language, spoken and written.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other relevant programming languages.
  • Real passion for data, new analytics technologies, and discovering new and interesting solutions to the company’s data needs.

Preparing

The process and the number of interviews depending on the seniority level and the location of the role. All candidates for the same position will follow the same process.

Depending on the role we might ask you to prepare a technical task or business case or ask you to complete a short personality assessment, a skills assessment, or a full day in-person assessment. The purpose of this is to give us a better sense of how you approach problem-solving, your leadership style and/or how you would apply your skills to the role.
