A hostage situation drill at ETT
Last Thursday was a day out of the ordinary at our Rotterdam terminal. ETT was the scene of a hostage situation drill, as part of the port protection exercise Port Defender. Using FRISCs (Fast Raiding, Interception and Special forces Craft), military units landed at our facility to ‘free’ colleagues taken hostage in their offices by ‘terrorists’. Soldiers also fast-roped from a helicopter onto the roof of the office building, to overpower the ‘terrorists’ in the office building. The Port Defender exercise involves the cooperation between different security services in a joint operation against mock large-scale terrorist actions. We’re pleased and proud to support the national forces in this important exercise.
