Maintenance engineer at Seaport Canaveral — USA

“Competence is sought, nurtured and rewarded.”

What does your role involve?

My job is to keep everything working, which requires a variety of skills and disciplines. At any hour of the day I might be looking at plumbing and piping, calibrating meters and sensors, troubleshooting electrical systems, maintaining tank gauging systems or carrying out preventative maintenance.

How has your career evolved?

I joined as a terminal operator and shortly afterwards was made shift leader. The fact is, I love fixing things.

What’s it like working for Seaport Canaveral?

In a large corporation it seems like the wheels of progress turn agonisingly slowly. At Seaport, however, the pace is energetic and progressive. Competence is sought, nurtured and rewarded.
